Investigating sustainable consumption behaviors: a bibliometric analysis

Purpose The research carried out a bibliometric analysis of the literature on environmental sustainability from demand perspective by analyzing scientific contributions published in last twenty years. Design/methodology/approach A was to outline studies development, identifying most discussed topics and those that would require future research. In total, 274 articles between 1999 2021 were collected through Web Science database analyzed with SciMAT software. Findings By systematizing results, study revealed steady growth number publications areas, highlighting substantial evolution topic. Research limitations/implications contribute for conceptual, methodological thematic development topic, results existing providing useful indications promotion sustainable consumer habits. Originality/value attempts bridge gap current offering holistic view role behavior pursuing goals, both treated areas emerging ones can represent opportunities
